Introduction
Well we are now in 2009 and Premier Pool Promotions will be
embarking on many new tasks and running many exciting events.
After a very successful year last year we have expanded the 8n9.com Premier
Pool Tour to 128 runners using 8 venues across the North and
Midlands. The prize fund will be over £14,000 depending
on us filling the event however with over 80 runners already
confirmed things are looking really good.

Darren Finch & Dan Rush
hard at work during an event
Four people have worked very hard over the last 12
months, Darren, James Hardy, Dan Rush and Steve
Hewlett. Running events all
over the North and Midlands has taken a lot of time and dedication
but the players have supported us 100%. 2009 promises to be a
really exciting year and there will be massive increases in the
number of tours we run.
We have run
events all over the North East, North West and the Midlands and have
been running events for in excess of five years. This
experience means we try to put events on that attract players of
varying abilities from the top pro down to young lads trying to
break in to pool. We make every attempt to not clash out
events with major organisations like the EPA, EBA or the WEPF World
Championships. If top players like Gareth Potts, Adam Davis,
Aaron Roberts, Lee Kendall, Carl Morris, Neil Davey and Liam Farrell
all entering many Premier Pool Promotions events it shows we are
doing something right. We have also attracted the likes of
Bayden Jackson (England), Rob Wharne (National Amateur Finalist),
Liam Stanley (England), Mark White (top amateur) along with many top under 21's and youth
players including Liam White (England U21 Captain) Craig Lakin,
Clint I Anson, Paul Pickering, Craig Day and others. All our
major events sell out within a couple of weeks of being advertised
and even the players who go out in the early chance often enter the
lucrative plate events as a second chance to get in the money
stages. Many players who enter the events have experience at the
highest levels with nearly 50% playing on the IPA tour at some
stage, many still current players.

Northwest Open Final Video
8n9.com Premier Pool Tour Event 3 Results
For the first time this year it wasn't going to be a Mark White v
Jack Whelan final, not because of their current form but because
they had finally been scheduled to meet in the semi final.
There was one man who didn't read that script and ended that
potential meeting as early as the first round. That man was
Rob Wharne who overcame Mark 6-5 in a nail biting match up.
Jack however had read the script and powered his way to the latter
stages only to be beaten by tour professional Adam Davis 6-5 and
that result recorded the first defeat this year for the in form
Derbyshire player, showing he is human (well just about). Adam
would face friend and fellow Staffs's player Jimmy Croxton who
had blown all the competition out of the water all day and wasn't in
the mood to stop. Jimmy recorded his first PPT success of the
year with relative ease winning 6-2 and it hardly seemed fair on
Adam that he was forced to start off -1 against such a good
opponent. Results/

Up north there was a little bit of a change but not in the fact
that the final didn't get played (yet again) due to time
constraints. Things were motoring along at a lightening pace
until a controversial moment in a match up between Terry Hunt and
James Uttley caused a slight delay in proceedings. James
claimed a foul after a shot from Terry on a black (see picture
below courtesy of Wayne Bristow).

Terry was adamant that he hadn't fouled and
Tournament Director (James Hardy) ruled a re-rack was the only
outcome. Terry went on to win the re-rack and the match by 6-1
and the delay clearly affected James as Terry made a series of top
quality finishes. Terry however was beaten 6-5 in the semi
final by the very impressive Gav Preskey who has been knocking on
the door all the way through the PPT 2009. At event 4 he will
face Lee Smith who himself appeared to be in a hurry dispatching
Mark Singleton, Mark Berriman, Mark Astbury, Vince Ley and Chris
Brannan with only Ley ever really causing him trouble losing 6-4 in
round 2.
